Need Some Endurance? Me Too.
Sometimes we NEED to change our circumstances instead of complaining about it all the time.
And sometimes we need to stick with the plan and quit the redundant doubting.
This week for the 12,000th time I had to remind myself that the way we have life set up right now isn’t necessarily easy or perfect, but it is what is best for us now. It’s working just fine and I need to stop fretting about it. I have 3 kids and they need the safe and secure home we are attempting to provide for them. We’ve chosen this arrangement and we need to stick to it.
Stay the course.
Even though money is tight and we don’t get to go on big vacations. I need to do a better job of managing the riches we have been given and stop worrying about having more.
It made me realize today, there are many parts of life in which we need reminders to stay the course. It’s not just me and my employment/writing issues.
Marriage is hard and millions of couples need weekly reminders to stay committed despite the frustration – stay the course.
Parenting feels impossible lots of days and being consistent about it is even harder. Stay the course.
Such-and-such family member requires so much attention. How am I supposed to keep loving them? Stay the course.
I am tired of forgiving that person who keeps lying to me! Stay the course.
Our church is going through some uncomfortable changes. The politics and history is getting to be about too much for me. Plus I’d love a morning to sleep in.
No. Don’t leave your church.
Stay the course.
If you are 100% committed to loving all the people you are supposed to love, honoring all the people you are supposed to respect, and staying faithful to the God and family who love you.. then that’s great.
For the rest of us, we need constant reminders that we are where we are for a reason.
That we have lots to learn if we can stick with it.
That we have people to love, relationships to work at, and forgiveness to ask for.
Don’t allow your heart to harden.
Therefore since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1,2)
Lord, help me to run with endurance the race that is set before me.
