If you’ve been around here much you know I love fresh starts. Even mornings can feel like a do-over opportunity.
I definitely need all the new grace I can get. This is best pondered in the context of why we need grace anyway.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. psalm 51:1
I wish I liked mornings better. I often feel like my transgressions start piling up pretty fast.
I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. psalm 51:3
And really it’s true. They do start piling fast. My sin is ever before me and I my clean slate doesn’t last long.
But I can also be rest assured that God isn’t going to just leave me here writhing in my sin.
you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. psalm 51:6
His promises to cleanse me can leave me assured of God’s presence in my day, the peace that He has granted to me, and today’s plan to which I have been called.
Create in my a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. psalm 51:10
My prayer is for humility in my sin, and joy in my salvation!
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. psalm 51:12
Have a great week! Godspeed!
