016: “Experiencing” God: The Means of Grace

You want to EXPERIENCE God?

FEEL His presence?

Listen in as I share my desire to FEEL God’s presence in my life… where it took me… and the truth I have discovered. Scripture is very clear.

It’s less about you or me finding Him.

It’s more about how He comes to us.

The Means of Grace can be defined as “how the Holy Spirit works both faith and good works in our lives.” (from Spirituality of the Cross by Gene Veith p44) The Means of Grace are the vehicle God uses to come to us in a very real, very physical way so we can experience Him – undoubtedly and without question.

Galatians 3:26,27 – “..for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”

Galatians 2:20 – “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”

Colossians 1:27 – “To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Lord’s Supper

John 6:52-58 – The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

John 6:41-51 – So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” They said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me— not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.  I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.  I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

The Word

Romans 10:17 – “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

I Thessalonians 2:13 – “And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.”

John 15:3 – “Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in men, and I in you.”

1 Peter 1:23 – “..since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for ‘All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.'”
